The next Dragon Ball game is set to be revealed at the Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri event in January 2026. Although I have three guesses on who the developer is, I’m going all in on one, and hoping my track record pans out.

To commemorate the first anniversary of the AniPlug Media website, let’s make it interesting: if you correctly guess the developer based on the hints below, you’ll be entered into a giveaway to win a copy of the next Dragon Ball game.

This developer has worked on games for Bandai Namco’s 4 most profitable anime IPs, as well as one other major anime.

  1. One game, possibly their most well-known licensed game, is hated by a large (or vocal) portion of that anime’s community.
  2. One game is a spinoff of a popular franchise.
  3. One game, their highest-selling licensed game, features the setting of a controversial arc in the original series.
  4. One game may have a controversial story behind its conception.
  5. One game was released only in Japan and Europe, and did not receive an English translation.

This developer has made several games for an anime perpetually embroiled in legal conflicts.

These games were also published by Bandai Namco, and none were released outside Japan.

One of this developer’s games featured a mode that would be perfect for modern Dragon Ball.

This mode hasn’t been in another Dragon Ball game ever since.

The circumstances surrounding a recent release from Bandai Namco would make a lot more sense if this developer had been working on a Dragon Ball game.

Between 2023 and 2025, Bandai Namco released a game that this developer would have been expected to be on.

A very specific port of one of their games would tank this theory.

All I’ll say here is this involves an anime movie with an early 2026 premiere date.
