SEGA has released a new trailer for Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2, showing off some of the new features in the game.

The story mode stages are much less linear than in the previous game, and the Hashira will be playable alongside Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke. The game also features “The Path of the Demon Slayer,” a mode that lets players relive the story of Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles through six battles:

  • Tanjiro vs. Sabito
  • Tanjiro and Nezuko vs. Yahaba and Susamaru
  • Tanjiro vs. Rui
  • Tanjiro (Hinokami Kagura) vs. Rui
  • Tanjiro vs. Enmu
  • Rengoku vs. Akaza

The trailer shows that the cutscenes from the Rengoku vs. Akaza battle from the previous game are present in Hinokami Chronicles 2.

“Over 40 characters” have been confirmed. Although demons could only be selected individually in the previous game, two teams can be formed here: Yahaba and Susamaru, and Daki and Gyutaro. “Some characters” have a second Ultimate Art, including Tanjiro (Swordsmith Village), Nezuko, and all Hashira from the previous game.

Dual Ultimate Arts have been added, and the following pairs can activate it:

Tanjiro Kamado (Swordsmith Village) and Nezuko Kamado
Zenitsu Agatsuma (Entertainment District) and Inosuke Hashibira (Entertainment District)
Muichiro Tokito and Mitsuri Kanroji
Tanjiro Kamado (Swordsmith Village) and Kyojuro Rengoku
Sanemi Shinazugawa and Obanai Iguro
Gyomei Himejima and Genya Shinazugawa
Giyu Tomioka and Shinobu Kocho
Kyojuro Rengoku and Tengen Uzui

Players can now equip gear to customize their characters during battle, with effects ranging from increasing attack and recovering health. Gear-enhanced characters can be used in both story and VS mode.

Training has been revamped to feature multiple difficulties, and a Mastery feature has been added. Completing training and increasing a character’s mastery will unlock various in-game rewards.
