Bandai Namco has announced their future plans for the upcoming team-based Dragon Ball game, PROJECT: Multi. DBPM was designed to “provide the experience of freely controlling” Dragon Ball characters in the franchise’s second team-focused multiplayer game, and the regional beta was meant to ensure players felt that “a fun competition could be had between most any player even with a bit of gap between their skills.”
Since the beta test, Bandai came to the following conclusions:
- The Great Ape mechanic will no longer provide an edge to the team that defeats it.
- Matchmaking was overtuned to the point that the game client gave up “instantly” when looking for others, so Bandai will readjust it in the future.
- Characters will be balanced frequently to “shift the spotlights from time to time onto different heroes to incentivize a variety in gameplay.”
- Hero coins and the shop level will be removed entirely.
- To prevent players from being forced to “perform optimally” in every match, the developer team plans to “implement a system of randomness to sway the outcome of a match.”
